2011年8月16日，一手打造龙湖集团的女掌门人吴亚军辞任公司首席执行官（CEO）一职，但仍保留公司执行董事和董事长职务。接任CEO一职的是公司常务副总裁兼商业地产部总经理邵明晓。
宋卫平说：“做品质全国比我们做得好的地产公司最多只有一家半家，这一家呢就是龙湖，另外半家是星河湾。吴亚军有男人气魄，又有女人的细腻，我不吝啬把溢美之词送给她。”
2011年3月《福布斯》全球富豪榜发布，重庆龙湖地产创办人吴亚军，以55亿美元的财富卫冕中国“女首富”。
当然，这背后是一个创业故事。
合川以前是一个县，现在是重庆市合川区。2007年的时候，龙湖与合川区签订协议，整体打造合川钓鱼城及东城半岛旅游综合开发项目。
她小时候的环境同多数同时代的人类似，在县城营盘街的一个院子中，若干家庭公用一个厨房。吴亚军的父亲在供销社工作，母亲则是一位裁缝，也是一位创业者。
中学的时候，吴亚军就读于合川二中，市重点中学。她没有中学生爱情故事，她的高中老师回忆，一方面她的性格有点像男孩，一方面当时他们管得也严。而她当时的人生目标是成为居里夫人。
“当时她作文写得非常好，文科成绩超好，但她对人生有规划，所以硬生生放弃文科，她决定学习工程技术。”创业时期就在一起的同事张薇如是回顾。
1980年吴亚军考入西北工业大学，当初是在导航工程系。在校期间，她还担任西北工业大学校篮球队前锋，是个篮球运动员。此外，她还是电大教师，每月薪水高达100多元，那个时期无疑属于高薪水平。
1986年，由于市场经济正在逐渐发展人们开始面对更多选择，她选择到《中国市容报》担任记者及编辑，该报主办单位为建设部城建司及重庆市建委实际上在北京办事处工作，有报道说，在画册出版过程中体现出了她的能力和专业水平，同时逐渐熟悉了房地产领域的事宜。
1994年成立了佳辰经济文化发展有限公司，其注册资本为200万元，当时有四个股东，其中包括中国市容报社、重庆亚泰工贸发展公司，以及蔡奎、吴亚軍的母亲高超各出资50万元。当初十几个同事主要从事装修销售进口建材业务。在几年的时间内，即使蔡奎独自进行电脑组装等系列经营活动获利颇丰，最终退出了股权结构。此后几年的时间里，与张薇共同经历了一段艰难岁月，从最初的小型企业成长为今天的大型企业集团。这段经历让两人结下深厚的情谊，并共同努力推动企业发展至今已超过三十载，而这份友情依然坚固如磐石，不因风雨变色。此外，他们也共同见证了时代巨变，对未来充满期待和信心，他们相信，只要大家携手合作，无论遇到什么困难，都能迎刃而解，最终达到彼此理想中的生活状态。这份团结精神正是他们成功不可或缺的一部分，是他们所坚持不懈追求并实现梦想的手足情谊象征着一种特殊形式的心灵交流，它构成了两个人之间特别紧密的情感纽带，为彼此提供支持与力量，使其能够更好地应对生活中的挑战和机遇，从而实现自己的价值和目标。
